A fiberisable mineral composition which is thermostable and has a high dissolution rate in biological fluids and which consists essentially of 53.5 - 64 w/w % of SiO2, ~ 4 w/w % of Al2O3, 10 - 20 w/w % of CaO, 10 - 20 w/w % of MgO, and 6.5 - 9 w/w % of FeO, the total amount of FeO and Fe2O3 calculated as FeO. A mineral fibre material made from the composition and used for thermal and/or acoustic insulation purposes or as a plant growing medium or substrate.

Composition minérale défibrable et thermostable présentant une vitesse élevée de dissolution dans les liquides biologiques, et étant essentiellement constituée (par rapport au poids global) de 53,5 à 64 % en poids de SiO2, de 4 % en poids de Al2O3, de 10 à 20 % en poids de CaO, de 10 à 20 % en poids de MgO, et de 6,5 à 9 % en poids de FeO, la quantité totale de FeO et de Fe2O3 étant calculée en tant que FeO. L'invention se rapporte également à une fibre minérale produite à partir de la composition décrite et utilisée à des fins d'isolation thermique et/ou acoustique ou comme milieu ou substrat de culture de végétaux.
