A thin film bag with a gusseted, substantially rectangular, bottom end having opposed triangular reinforcing flaps, and a method of manufacturing same, is disclosed herein. A pleat is formed at the bottom of the bag with the flap, on each side thereof, being formed by diagonal seal seams which terminate on a seal side edge of the bag and spaced above an apex point seal at said edge which intersects with an inner common folded edge of inner pleat panels of a bottom folded pleat. Accordingly, when pressure is applied against the bottom end of the bag, such as when placing an article or articles therein, the load applied onto the bottom end will be distributed along the diagonal seams of the flap away from the apex point with the flap maintaining the bottom wall substantially rectangular.
