A titanium dioxide pigment, characterized in that it comprises anatase-type crystals in the range of 98 to 100 %, has an average particle diameter in the range of 0.2 to 0.4 µm and has a whiteness degree in the range of 95 to 97 in terms of L value of the linseed oil color. The pigment has characteristics peculiar to anatase-type, for example, optical characteristics such as bluish color tone and physical characteristics such as low hardness, and also enhanced hiding property which non of the conventional anatase-type titanium dioxide pigments exhibits.

L'invention concerne un pigment de dioxyde de titane caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend des cristaux du type anatase compris entre 98 et 100 %, en ce qu'il présente un diamètre moyen des particules compris entre 0,2 et 0,4 µm et un degré de blancheur compris entre 95 et 97 en termes de valeur l de la couleur de l'huile de lin. Ledit pigment présente des caractéristiques propres au type anatase, par exemple, des caractéristiques optiques telles qu'un ton de couleur bleuâtre, et des caractéristiques physiques telles qu'une faible dureté ainsi qu'une propriété couvrante améliorée que les pigments de dioxyde de titane classiques du type anatase ne possèdent pas.
