A toothbrush head having a free end and a top surface with a plurality of holes. A plurality of elastomeric elements extend from the head each from an anchor disposed in one of the holes in the head. A first bristle tuft is disposed adjacent the free end wherein the length of the bristles gets relatively shorter in a direction towards the handle. A plurality of second bristle tufts are included which have a length which is less than the lengths of the elastomeric elements.
