Method for drying wood raw material (10) by means of hot gases (20) supplied to the drying process, in which VOC, apart from water, evaporate from the wood raw material into the gases. The drying process is divided and carried out in at least two sub-steps (I, II), from which process gas (22, 33) is removed separately, and the drying process is thus controlled that VOC evaporate during one of the sub-steps, and the VOC are concentrated to this sub-step. The temperature of the gas containing VOC is increased to a temperature exceeding 180 ~C before VOC are oxidised catalytically at said elevated temperature, in order to reduce the discharge of VOC from the drying process.

L'invention concerne un procédé de séchage d'une matière en bois brut (10) au moyen de gaz chauds (20) appliqués pendant le procédé de séchage dans lequel des composés organiques volatils, exception faite de l'eau, passent par évaporation de la matière en bois brut dans les gaz. On sépare le procédé de séchage en deux sous-phases (I, II) au moins, dans lesquelles on retire séparément le gaz utilisé (22, 33), et on régule le procédé de séchage de telle sorte que les composés organiques volatils s'évaporent dans l'une des sous-phases, ces composés organiques volatils étant concentrés dans cette sous-phase. On augmente la température des gaz contenant les composés organiques volatils à un degré supérieur à 180 ·C avant d'oxyder de manière catalytique les composés organiques volatils à cette température élevée afin de réduire la libération de composés organiques volatils pendant le procédé de séchage.
