UNIVERSAL TILTABLE AND SLIDABLE SUNROOF FOR MOTOR VEHICLES Abstract A universal tiltable and slidable sunroof for motor vehicles is hinged at its frontal portion to a first guide shoe slidable in a longitudinal direction along fixed guides of the contour of the space formed in the roof; also, the sunroof is articulated by means of a lever to a second guide shoe which is also slidable along said guides under the action of flexible means controlled by a handle or by a geared motor, locking means for locking said first guide shoe on the guides during a first translation section of the second guide shoe produce an initial tilting of the sunroof about the said hinge by means of the said lever; automatic release members of said locking means operate at the end roof the said initial tilting stage; simultaneously with further means arranged to rigidly connect the two guide shoes to one another and thus give rise to a sliding movement of the sunroof during a second stage of translation of the second guide shoe; further provided are also members for the automatic disengagement of the said two guide shoes at the termination of the first return stage of the said second guide shoe - 2 - and hence of the sunroof, which members act simultaneously with the repositioning of the locking means of said first guide shoe and allow the closure of the sunroof during the second return stags of the second guide shoe; at the end of the closure stage of the sloping planes translated by the flexible means, said planes engage corresponding sloping planes of the sunroof in order to press this latter against the perimetral sealing gaskets of the space of the sunroof and ensure the sealing action of said gaskets.
