Unloading Means for Flow-Pressure Compensated Valve Abstract A "load-plus" valve is oftentimes utilized in a servo-system to maintain pump discharge pressure above a minimum pressure level and above a load pressure signal generated in a fluid actuator. Valves of this type normally include a margin spring for biasing a modulating spool against the opposing force of discharge pressure to maintain a constant margin over the load pressure signal throughout the system working range. When the load pressure signal exceeds a maximum pressure level, it is normally vented to tank, or continuously bled to tank across an orifice, resulting in horsepower losses. A fluid circuit employs an unloading arrangement with the above type of "load-plus" valve to inactivate the margin spring to reduce the above margin between the pump discharge pressure and load pressure signal to zero in response to the load pressure signal exceeding a maximum pressure level.
