The invention relates to the use of an adenovirus for cancer treatment. The invention is characterised in that the adenovirus is defective in the virus- associated (VA) RNAs thereof, said adenovirus having a mutation in the sequence of gene VAI or VAII or both. Said adenovirus can also have a mutation in the sequences that control the expression of the VA RNAs.
