Remedies for endotoxic bacterial enteric infection which contain as the active ingredient proanthocyanidin-containing materials derived from natural matters such as apple extract or grape extract and inhibit and attenuate toxins produced by endotoxic bacteria causative of enteric infection typified by pathogenic vibrio (Vibrio cholerae, Vibrio parahaemolyticus), thus being efficacious in fundamentally treating and preventing the infection; medicinal compositions for treating/preventing diphtheria, etc. with the use of the ADP- ribosylation inhibitory effect of proanthocyanidin; food additives usable in preventing and treating the above diseases; and foods containing these additives.

L'invention concerne des remèdes pour une infection entérique bactérienne endotoxique, lesquels contiennent, comme ingrédient actif, des matières contenant de la proanthocyanidine dérivées de substances naturelles, telles que des extraits de pomme ou des extraits de raisin. Ces remèdes inhibent et atténuent des toxines produites par les bactéries endotoxiques qui sont la cause d'une infection entérique typifiée par un vibrion pathogène (Vibrio cholerae, Vibrio parahaemolyticus), et sont, par conséquent, efficaces dans la prévention et le traitement fondamentaux de l'infection.
