ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a vacuum system for evacuating the space between individual laminae of a laminated glass assembly. A sealing ring surrounds the peripheral edges of a stacked arrangement of individual laminae adapted to form the laminated glass assembly and communicates with a source of vacuum by a suitable conduit. A sensing device is coupled to monitor the pressure within the conduit and is adapted to prevent communication between the sealing ring and the vacuum source in the event the pressure within the conduit increases to a predetermined amount. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the sensing means includes a solenoid valve connected in the conduit between the vacuum source and the sealing ring and a vacuum switch coupled to monitor the pressure in the conduit section between the solenoid valve and the vacuum source for operating the solenoid valve.
