- 11 - A B S T R A C T The invention relates to a washing device (1) provided on a printing machine for cleaning the surface of a roller or a cylinder, e.g. for cleaning a blanket of a blanket cylinder (2), comprising a supply roll (3) and a take-up roll (4) for a cleaning cloth which can be dampened with washup liquid, said cleaning cloth (5) being pulled from said supply roll over an actuatable impression device (9) and being wound around said take-up roll (4) for the purpose of bringing said cleaning cloth (5), during washup, into contact with said blanket cylinder (5) by means of said impression device (9), said impression device (9) featuring an elastic membrane member (10) which is sealed with respect to a spacer (11) and which is actuatable by producing a compressed-air cushion between membrane member (10) and spacer (11). According to an embodiment of the invention which is easy to manufacture and to use said spacer (11) is received like a slot-guided member in a guiding member (14) and boundary areas (17) of said membrane member (10) are sealingly pressed against undercut surfaces guiding projections (15) of said guiding member (14) by biasing said spacer (11) with respect to said guiding pro- jections (15).
