A cover for a battery compartment in a medical device such as an ambulatory pump that is used for infusing a medicinal fluid. The battery compartment cover includes a lever (18) that is pivotal between an open and a closed position. The lever is connected to a plunger (22) that applies a compressive force against an O-ring, which is trapped between a shoulder on a washer through which the plunger extends and an end of the plunger. When the lever is pivoted to its open position, the compressive force on the O-ring is released, enabling the battery compartment cover to be removed from the opening into the battery compartment. However, when the lever is pivoted to its closed position, it draws the plunger outwardly, applying a compressive force to the O-ring that causes the O-ring to expand radially outward, sealing the opening into the battery compartment against the intrusion of water or other liquids and securing the battery compartment cover in engagement with the opening.
L'invention concerne un couvercle de logement d'accumulateur/de pile, dans un dispositif médical du type pompe ambulatoire utilisée pour l'injection d'un fluide médical. Ledit couvercle comprend un levier (18) pivotant entre des positions ouverte et fermée. Le levier est couplé à un plongeur (22) appliquant une force de compression contre un joint torique. Ce joint est pris entre une épaule sur une rondelle, par laquelle s'étend le plongeur, et une extrémité du plongeur. Lorsque le levier pivote vers sa position ouverte, la force de compression libère le joint torique, ce qui permet d'ôter le couvercle de l'ouverture du compartiment. Néanmoins, lorsqu'il pivote vers sa position fermée, le levier tire le plongeur vers l'extérieur, appliquant ainsi une force de compression contre le joint torique, moyennant quoi celui-ci s'étend radialement vers l'extérieur, verrouillant alors l'ouverture du compartiment et empêchant l'eau ou d'autres fluides d'entrer. Dès lors, le couvercle est verrouillé en position dans l'ouverture du compartiment.
