A meander line loaded antenna (200) provides a wide instantaneous bandwidth with a first planar conductor (204) extending orthogonally from a ground plane (201), a second planar conductor (202) substantially parallel to the ground plane (201) and separated from the first planar conductor (204) by a gap (206), a meander line interconnecting the first and second planar conductors across the gap (206), and third conductor (212) connecting the second planar conductor to ground. A fourth conductor (210) provides enhanced capacitance between the first and second planar conductors. The antenna may be arranged in opposed pairs, and also as two orthogonally opposed pairs for enabling circular polarization. Applications include communications systems requiring wide instantaneous bandwidth and multimode capability.
La présente invention concerne une antenne chargée par une ligne an méandres offrant une large bande instantanée. Cette antenne comporte un premier conducteur plan partant orthogonalement d'un plan de sol, un second conducteur plan sensiblement parallèle au plan de sol et séparé du premier conducteur plan par un intervalle, une ligne en méandres interconnectant le premier et le second conducteur plan de part et d'autre de l'intervalle, et un troisième conducteur connectant au sol le second conducteur plan. Un quatrième conducteur crée une capacitance accrue entre le premier et le second conducteur. L'antenne peut être agencée en paires opposées, mais également sous forme de deux paires orthogonalement opposées de façon à permettre une polarisation circulaire. Les applications de l'antenne sont essentiellement des systèmes de communication nécessitant une grande largeur de bande instantanée et une aptitude au multimode.
