A shaft support (22) for supporting a shaft end (16b, 18b) of a conveyor roller (16, 18) is pivotable about an axis extending generally along the direction of conveyance of a conveyor (10), such that the support may pivot to accommodate a change in vertical positioning of one or both ends of the roller (16, 18). The shaft support may also be pivotable about a generally vertical axis in order to also accommodate skewed rollers mounted at an angle not perpendicular to the direction of conveyance. Because the shaft support is pivotable about the axis extending in the direction of conveyance, the shaft support simplifies the installation and removal of the motorized roller, while providing for a roller that does not require a spring loaded shaft or axle. The roller may thus be a low cost roller which may be easily installed and removed from the conveyor.

Selon cette invention, un support (22) d'arbre, destiné à supporter une extrémité (16b, 18b) d'arbre d'un rouleau (16, 18) de transporteur, pivote autour d'un axe s'étendant généralement dans le sens de transport du transporteur (10) de sorte que le support puisse pivoter afin de s'adapter à un changement de positionnement vertical de l'une ou des deux extrémités du rouleau (16, 18). Le support de l'arbre peut également pivoter autour d'un axe généralement vertical afin de s'adapter aussi aux rouleaux asymétriques montés au niveau d'un angle non perpendiculaire au sens du transport. Du fait que le support de l'arbre pivote autour de l'axe s'étendant dans le sens du transport, il simplifie la mise en place et le retrait du rouleau motorisé et assure au rouleau qui n'en a pas besoin un arbre ou essieu à ressort. On peut ainsi réaliser un rouleau de faible coût, pouvant être facilement mis en place et retiré du transporteur.
