60SI-1083 ZINC BORATE AS A SMOKE SUPPRESSANT ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A high hydrocarbon content combustible composition containing silicone is described which incorporates zinc borate to reduce smoke emission. The composition comprises: (a) sufficient hydrocarbon content that elemental carbon constitutes at least about 40% by weight of the total composition; (b) sufficient silicone polymer that elemental silicon constitutes at least about 1/2 % by weight of the total composition; and (c) sufficient zinc borate to reduce smoke generation.
