ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Abrasive materials comprising a fused and solidified crystalline mixture of zirconia, chromia, eutectic and in other examples zirconia in a chromia alumina solid solution phase, are described. The fused and solidified mass is finely crystalline, has a low porosity and the abrasive grains are essentially free of such an amount of chromium metal as might detrimentally affect the grinding action when the grains are bonded in a grinding wheel and used for a normal grinding activity.
