The invention is an area defence weapon system with a firing mechanism (1) comprising at least one launch tube (12) that fires a projectile (13) with an explosive warhead, for example, and at least one surveillance and target acquisition device (2) which controls a surveillance area (Z) and is designed to detect any target (3) that might enter the said area and direct the fire of the main projectile (13) at that target (3). The firing mechanism (1) is located at a distance from the surveillance and target acquisition device (2), the surveillance area (Z) being located within firing range of the firing mechanism (1). The surveillance device (2) is mounted in an auxiliary projectile (20), and the device is planted in the surveillance area by firing it from the firing mechanism (1).

Système d'arme à défense de zone, du type constitué d'un dispositif d'attaque (1) comprenant au moins un tube de lancement (12) d'une munition dont le projectile (13) renferme une charge explosive par exemple, et d'au moins un dispositif (2) de veille et d'acquisition d'objectifs (3) qui contrôle une zone de surveillance (Z) pour détecter un objectif (3) pénétrant dans ladite zone et pour commander le dispositif d'attaque (1) avec tir du projectile principal (13) en direction de l'objectif détecté (3). Le dispositif d'attaque (1) est situé à distance du dispositif de veille (2) et d'acquisition d'objectifs (3), ladite zone de surveillance (Z) étant située dans le rayon d'action du dispositif d'attaque (1). Le dispositif de veille (2) est avantageusement constitué par un projectile auxiliaire (20) tiré à partir du dispositif d'attaque (1).
