ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a process and a device for marking plane objects by means of strip codes. According to the invention, a code, in particular a strip code, is formed by applying glass beads with a diameter of 0.01 to 1 mm, preferably 0.05 to 0.8 mm, in particular 0.08 to 0.5 mm, and with a refractive index of more than 1.5, preferably of 1.85 to 2.0, to the objects by means of an adhesive, for instance a thermoplastic adhesive, a two-component adhesive, an adhesive so or the like.
