ABSTRACT Molten glass is passed onto a pool of molten metal in a forming chamber and is shaped into flat glass while floating on the molten metal pool, the glass loses heat to the surroundings in the forming chamber, and heat is removed from the forming chamber by at least a portion passing to molten metal coolants circulated in passages separate from the molten metal pool.
