An intravaginal drug delivery device comprises a device body comprising a hydrophobic carrier material having at least one channel defining at least one opening to the exterior of said device body, said at least one channel being adapted to receive at least one drug-containing insert; at least one drug-containing insert positioned in said at least one channel, said drug-containing insert capable of releasing a pharmaceutically effective amount of at least one drug suitable for intravaginal administration and containing about 1% to about 70% of at least one water-soluble release enhancer, both the drug and the water-soluble release enhancer dispersed in an insert carrier material; wherein said hydrophobic carrier material and said insert carrier material may be the same or different; and wherein said at least one drug-containing insert is exposed on said exterior of said device body when said intravaginal drug delivery device is in use.
L'invention concerne un dispositif d'administration intravaginale de médicament, comprenant : un corps de dispositif constitué d'un matériau excipient hydrophobe pourvu d'au moins un canal définissant au moins une ouverture vers l'extérieur du corps de dispositif, ledit canal au moins étant conçu pour recevoir au moins un insert contenant un médicament; au moins un insert contenant un médicament, disposé dans ledit canal au moins, ledit insert étant apte à libérer une quantité pharmaceutiquememt efficace d'au moins un médicament à administration intravaginale contenant d'environ 1 à environ 70% d'au moins un activateur de libération hydrosoluble, le médicament et l'activateur de libération hydrosoluble étant tous deux dispersés dans un matériau excipient d'insert; le matériau excipient hydrophobe et le matériau excipient d'insert pouvant être identiques ou différents; ledit insert contenant un médicament au moins étant exposé sur l'extérieur du corps de dispositif lors de l'utilisation du dispositif d'administration intravaginale de médicament.
