Melt formed inorganic fibres are disclosed having the compositions:- Al2O3 10.2 - 55.5 mol% K2O 12 - 37.1 mol% Si02 17.7 - 71.4 mol% B2O3 0.1 - 10 mol% in which SiO2 + Al2O3 + K2O > = 77.7 mol% and with the total constituents not exceeding 100mol%. with optionally MgO 0.1 - 10 mol%.

Cette invention concerne des fibres inorganiques formées par fusion dont les compositions sont les suivantes :Al2O3 de 10,2 à 55,5 % molaire, K2O de 12 à 37,1 % molaire, SiO2 de 17,7 à 71,4 % molaire, B2O3 de 0,1 à 10 % molaire où SiO2 + Al2O3 + K2O >= 77,7 % molaire et où les constituants totaux ne dépassent pas 100 % molaire, MgO étant éventuellement présent en une quantité de 0,1 à 10 % molaire.
