An improved shaft seal assembly (18) having a rotor (13) and a stator (14) including a main body and a projection (19) therefrom. The rotor (13) is radially extended and encompasses the projection (19). The labyrinths formed between the radial projection (19) and the rotor (13) result in an axial passageway (21) having its opening facing rearwardly from the rotor (13) and away from the source of impinging contaminants seeking the bearing environment.

La présente invention concerne un ensemble joint d'arbre amélioré (18). Cet ensemble joint comporte un rotor (13) et un stator (14) avec un corps principal muni de collerettes (19). Le rotor (13) est disposé radialement et entoure les collerettes (19). Le passage formé entre la collerette (19) et le rotor (13) est un passage axial (21) dont l'ouverture est tournée vers l'arrière du rotor (13), à l'écart de la zone d'impact des substances contaminantes, ce qui atténue les attaques de l'environnement sur les portées.
