An intersatellite optical communication system utilizing a non-coherent differential binary phase shift keyed modulation for digitizing uplinked RF signals for use both within the satellite and for within a network of satellites. The modulated and digitized signal is transmitted from a transmitting end to a receiving end. At the receiving end, the received signal is split into two signals with one signal being delayed by one bit of the bit rate. Recombining the delayed and non-delayed split signal results in an interference pattern that eases the process of recovering the original signal.
