A battery can (1) of a battery accommodating power generating elements comprising an electrode group (41) and an electrolyte. A plurality of ridges (3) which have a bottomed cylindrical shape, and are swollen from an inner surface (2) of the can so that the thickness of the wall of the can is increased. The ridges are inclined at two angles to the axial direction on both sides of the cylinder axis (S), and the ridges (3) join and intersect each other via intersections (9) thereby forming a lattice.
