The invention provides adilution apparatus (1) for a thickener of the type having a thickening tank and a feedwell (4) disposed upstream of the tank to receive feed liquid, said dilution apparatus including: a receiving vessel (5) adapted for at least partial submersion within the thickening tank to receive supernatant dilution liquid (2) therefrom; and a submersible pump (1a) including an impeller (6) adapted for at least partial submersion within the dilution liquid (2); the pump (1a) being adapted to transfer the dilution liquid (2) from the thickening tank through the receiving vessel (5) to the feed liquid for dilution thereof, before transfer of the feed liquid from the feedwell (4) into the thickening tank. The pump is responsive to system parameters for adjusting the flow rate of the supernatant liquid.

L'invention concerne une pompe axiale (1) permettant d'injecter de manière précise un liquide surnageant (2) à partir d'un emplacement adjacent à la surface du liquide (3) d'un réservoir d'épaississement (non dessiné), pour diluer le liquide dans un puits d'alimentation (4). La pompe (1) comprend un récipient de réception (5) en forme de cupule, submergé dans le liquide surnageant. La pompe comprend également une tête de pompe submergée (6) montée sur un arbre (7) pouvant être mis en rotation, pour tirer du liquide à partir du récipient (5) et pour l'injecter dans le puits d'alimentation (4). L'arbre (7) est entraîné par un moteur et par une boite de vitesses associée (non dessinée). La pompe réagit à des paramètres de système pour régler le débit du liquide surnageant.
