A rapid method for determining the minimum inhibitory concentration of biocides or biocidal agents for use in anaerobically contaminated aqueous systems is disclosed. This rapid technique provides for an opportunity to determine the minimum amount of antimicrobial agents, or biocides either singularly or combination, to control anaerobic growth in aqueous streams contaminated by microorganisms. The test involves the use of pH indicator dye systems which respond to the environmental changes caused by the production of byproducts of carbohydrate metabolism by anaerobes.
L'invention concerne un procédé rapide de détermination de la concentration minimale inhibitrice de biocides ou d'agents biocides à utiliser dans des systèmes aqueux contaminés en anaérobie. Cette technique rapide permet de déterminer la quantité minimale d'agents antimicrobiens ou de biocides, agissant séparément ou en combinaison, en vue de contrôler la croissance anaérobie dans des courants aqueux contaminés par des micro-organismes. L'essai implique l'utilisation de systèmes colorés indicateurs de pH répondant aux variations du milieu environnant dues à la formation de produits secondaires du métabolisme glucidique par anaérobie.
