O.Z. 0050/42891 Abstract of the Disclosure: A process for preparing tetrahydropyrancarboxylic esters of the formula I (II) Image where R1 is C1-C4-alkyl, R2 is hydrogen or COOR3 and R3 is C1-C4-alkyl, by reacting 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds of the formula I (II) Image where R4 is C1-C4-alkyl and R5 1s CH3CO or OR4, with ethers of the formula III Image (III) where X is chlorine, bromine, OCOCl or OSOCl, in the presence of alcoholates, which reaction is carried out in the presence of a dipolar aprotic solvent and, novel tetrahydropyrancarboxylic esters.
