Disclosed are isolated nucleic acids comprising nucleotide sequences which encode a polypeptide which have the properties of isoamylases, which are starch debranching enzymes, and are obtainable from <u>Solanum tuberosum</u> (e.g. amino acid sequence shown in any one of SEQ ID Nos. 4, 5 or 6, encoded by nucleic acid SEQ ID Nos. 1, 2, or 3). Also disclosed are variants of the same, and methods for isolating or producing these, plus also corresponding polypeptides and antibodies. Further aspects of the invention include vectors, transformed cells, and transgenic plants containing the nucleic acids of the present invention, plus also starches having modified branching characteristics and methods and materials for producing and using the same.
L'invention concerne des acides nucléiques isolés qui comprennent des séquences nucléotidiques codant pour un polypeptide qui possède les propriétés des isoamylases (qui sont des enzymes de déramification de l'amidon), et qui sont obtenus à partir de <u>Solanum tuberosum</u> (càd une séquence d'acides aminés indiquées dans l'une des séquences portant les numéros d'identification 4, 5 et 6, codées par les séquences d'acides nucléiques numéros d'identification 1, 2 ou 3). Elle concerne également des variants de ces acides et des procédés pour les isoler ou les produire, ainsi que des polypeptides et des anticorps correspondants. En outre, l'invention concerne des vecteurs, des cellules transformées et des plantes transgéniques contenant les acides nucléiques de la présente invention ainsi que des amidons possédant des caractéristiques modifiées de ramification plus des procédés et des matériaux pour les fabriquer.
