A fiberglass insulation binder composition made from a polycarboxy polymer, a polyhydroxy crosslinking agent, and a cationic surfactant, amphoteric surfactant, nonionic surfactant, or mixture thereof. Also, a process for manufacturing a fiberglass insulation product, which involves a step of applying the binder composition onto a fiberglass substrate and curing the fiberglass substrate so treated. Binders produced in accordance with the present invention are characterized by improved atomization, improved binder dispersion and fiber wetting properties, and improved protection of individual fibers during processing.

L'invention concerne une composition de liant d'isolation en fibres de verre, constituée à partir d'un polymère polycarboxy, d'un agent de réticulation polyhydroxy, d'un tensioactif cationique, d'un tensioactif amphotérique, d'un tensioactif non ionique, ou d'un mélange de ceux-ci. L'invention concerne également un procédé de fabrication d'un produit d'isolation en fibres de verre, consistant à appliquer la composition de liant sur un substrat en fibres de verre et à faire durcir ledit substrat en fibres de verre ainsi traité. Les liants produits par le procédé de l'invention sont caractérisés par des propriétés améliorées d'atomisation, de dispersion de liant, d'humidification de fibres, et de protection de fibres individuelles lors du traitement.
