The present invention relates to antisense oligonucleotides for metabotropic glutamate receptor type 1 (mGluR1). There is provided oligonucleotides that hybridize to a mRNA encoding mGluR1 or a splice variant thereof. There is also provided a method for treating a patient having a disorder related to an elevated glutamate level, such as chronic pain, or to enhance an opioid effect or to reduce opioid dependence and/or tolerance, which comprises the administration of such an oligonucleotide. Specific pain treatment is thereby obtained.

La présente invention concerne des oligonucléotides antisens de récepteur type 1 de glutamate métabotropique (mGluR¿1?). Cette invention a également trait à des oligonucléotides qui s'hybrident à un ARNm codant mGluR¿1? ou un variant d'épissure correspondant, à une méthode de traitement d'un patient souffrant d'un trouble lié à un taux de glutamate élevé, tel qu'une douleur chronique, ou d'amélioration d'un effet opioïde ou de diminution d'une dépendance et/ou tolérance opioïde consistant à administrer un tel oligonucléotide. On obtient ainsi un traitement spécifique de la douleur.
