A method and apparatus for bead seating a tubeless tire onto a rim comprising a charging reservoir (22) having a fill/quick-release port (51), an inlet (42) and an outlet (97). A piston (36) divides the charging reservoir into a control section (89) and an outlet section (87). A portable tank (12) having a stored air is connected to the outlet section (87). A pressure differential across the piston keeps the piston tightly against the outlet, holding the pressurized air in the outlet section and the portable tank. Once the pressurized air in the quick-release section is released, the piston is propelled away from the outlet, thereby explosively releasing the air as a single pneumatic pulse and directed towards a unique nozzle (66) to seat the bead of the tire. La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de mettre en place sur la jante le talon d'un pneu sans chambre à air. Ledit appareil comprend un réservoir de chargement (22) muni d'un orifice de remplissage/ouverture rapide (51), un orifice d'entrée (42) et un orifice de sortie (97). Un piston (36) divise le réservoir de chargement en une section de commande (89) et une section de sortie (87). Un réservoir portable (12) dans lequel de l'air est emmagasiné est relié à la section de sortie (87). Une différence de pression de part et d'autre du piston maintient le piston fermement appuyé contre l'orifice de sortie, l'air sous pression étant alors maintenu dans la section de sortie et dans le réservoir portable. Une fois que l'air sous pression se trouvant dans la section à ouverture rapide est relâché, le piston est propulsé loin de l'orifice de sortie, l'air est relâché par explosion en une seule impulsion pneumatique et il dirigé vers une buse unique (66) afin de mettre en place le talon du pneu.
