A cochlear implant system has an external housing (301) adapted for placement at a specific location on the external skin of a user. The external housing includes (i) a signal processing module (302) for converting an incoming acoustic signal into a representative electrical information signal, and (ii) a signal transmission module (303) for transmitting across the skin (304) of the user an electrical power signal representative of the electrical information signal. An implanted portion receives the electrical power signal and produces for the auditory system of the user an electrical stimulation signal representative of the acoustic signal. The external housing and the implanted portion magnetically cooperate so as to hold the external housing in place at the specific location without structural interaction with the outer ear of the user.
L'invention concerne un système d'implant cochléaire ayant un boîtier externe conçu pour être placé au niveau d'un emplacement spécifique sur la peau externe d'un utilisateur. Le boîtier externe comprend (i) un module de traitement de signal pour convertir un signal acoustique entrant en un signal d'informations électriques représentatif, et (ii) un module de transmission de signal pour transmettre sur la peau de l'utilisateur un signal de puissance électrique représentative du signal d'informations électriques. Une partie implantée reçoit le signal de puissance électrique et produit pour le système auditif de l'utilisateur un signal de stimulation électrique représentatif du signal acoustique.
