The invention relates to a U-channel comprising a base (1a) and two side legs (1b, 1c), which is characterized in that a longitudinal folding line (2') runs in its base (1a), in particular near the median line of said base, in such manner that this base is able to fold inward while the legs (1b, 1c) flare outward, whereby the channel structure may be transformed into a substantially cross-sectional W structure to facilitate its stacking in particular for storage and/or shipping. The invention also relates to a manufacturing method for such a channel and to equipment with which to carry out the method.
