A heavy metal fluoride glass composition for an optical fiber in mole percent, about: 20 to 40% InF3, 20 to 0% GaF3, 2 to 10% PbF2, 0 to 25% ZnF2, 0 to 25% CdF2, 10 to 25% BaF2, 0 to 6% NaCl, 0 to 6% NaF, 0 to 7% SrF2 and 0 to 5% CaF2; the total of InF3 and GaF3 being about 40%; the total of BaF2, SrF2 and CaF2 being about 25%; the total of ZnF2 and CdF2 being about 25%, and the total of NaCl and NaF being about 6%; said composition being further doped with a lanthanide series heavy metal fluoride in an amount up to about 1%.
L'invention concerne une composition de verre à base de fluorure de métal lourd pour fibre optique qui, en pourcentage molaire comprend environ: entre 20 et 40 % d'InF3, entre 20 et 0 % GaF3, entre 2 et 10 % de PbF2, entre 0 et 25 % de ZnF2, entre 0 et 25 % de CdF2, entre 10 et 25 % de BaF2, entre 0 et 6 % de NaCl, entre 0 et 6 % de NaF, entre 0 et 7 % SrF2 et entre 0 et 5 % de CaF2; les pourcentages cumulés sont les suivants: environ 40 % pour l'ensemble InF3 et GaF3, environ 25 % pour l'ensemble BaF2, SrF2 et CaF2, environ 25 % pour l'ensemble ZnF2 et CdF2, et environ 6 % pour l'ensemble NaCl et NaF. Par ailleurs cette composition est dopée au moyen d'un fluorure de métal lourd de la série des lanthanides environ à hauteur de 1 %.
