Disclosed is a method for producing silicon, comprising the following steps: a) fused-salt electrolysis of an SiO2-containing starting material along with antimony, mercury, and sulfur so as to obtain a soluble material; b) washing to remove the elementary sulfur; c) acid treatment to eliminate foreign ions; d) reduction treatment to reduce mercury salts and/or antimony salts; e) density separation to separate the silicon from the remaining components.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production de silicium, présentant les étapes suivantes: a) électrolyse en milieu fondu d'un matériau de départ à base de SiO2, conjointement avec de l'antimoine, du mercure et du soufre, afin d'obtenir un matériau; b) lavage pour éliminer le soufre élémentaire; c) traitement à l'acide pour éliminer les ions étrangers; traitement par réduction pour réduire les sels de mercure et/ou d'antimoine; séparation par masse volumique pour séparer le silicium des constituants résiduels.
