One or more cavities are formed in the bonding surfaces of one, all, or some of the elements to be bonded. These cavities serve as receptacles for the bonding material and are where the bonds are localized. The cavities are of sufficient size and shape so that their volume is greater than the volume of bonding material forming the bond. This ensures that when the elements are brought into contact with one another to mate, the bonding material, which can flow prior to solidifying into a bond, will flow into the cavities and will not impede the separation of the parts. This allows the parts to be mated with nominally zero separation. Once solidified, the bonding material forms a localized bond inside each cavity. Different cavity shapes, such as, rectangular, circular, or any other shape that can be injected or filled with adhesive material may be used.

Les cavités servent de réceptacles de matériau de liaison et sont situées là où les liaisons seront localisées. Les cavités possèdent une taille et une forme telles que leur volume est supérieur à celui du matériau de liaison formant la liaison. Ceci de manière à garantir que lorsque les éléments sont mis en contact les uns avec les autres afin de s'apparier, le matériau de liaison, qui peut s'écouler avant de se solidifier en une liaison, s'écoule dans les cavités et n'empêche pas la séparation des pièces. L'invention permet de cette manière d'apparier des pièces avec une séparation nominale nulle. Une fois solidifié, le matériau de liaison forme une liaison localisée à l'intérieur de chaque cavité. On peut utiliser des cavités de formes différentes, rectangulaire, circulaire ou de toute autre forme pouvant recevoir un matériau adhésif injecté ou pouvant être remplie de matériau adhésif.
