A method of monitoring breathing of a patient with a nasal cannula. The method comprising the steps of forming the nasal cannula with at least one nare, and at least one nare having a primary inlet/outlet opening formed in a remote end thereof. Coupling the nasal cannula to a detection device for monitoring breathing characteristics of the patient while the patient is sleeping. Detecting breathing characteristics of the patient, while the patient is sleeping, via at least the primary inlet/outlet opening of the nare and sending the detected breathing characteristics of the patient to detection device for evaluation.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de surveiller la respiration d'un patient à l'aide d'une canule nasale. Ledit procédé consiste à former une canule nasale dotée d'au moins un embout comprenant une ouverture d'entrée/sortie primaire formée au niveau de l'extrémité distante dudit embout. La canule nasale est couplée à un dispositif de détection afin de surveiller les caractéristiques de respiration du patient pendant son sommeil. On détecte les caractéristiques de respiration du patient pendant son sommeil via l'ouverture d'entrée/sortie primaire de la narine et on les envoie au dispositif de détection pour une évaluation.
