The apparatus and process of the invention provides an exterior surface of a lamp with a high quality coating in a short processing time in a simple way. In the process the coating is provided by means of a microwave-CVD process in a microwave reactor. When the microwave power coupled into the microwave reactor (1) is greater than a certain power threshold value, a plasma with reduced microwave permeability is ignited which shields metal components on the lamp; The rate of microwave power change during turn-on and turn-off is advantageously greater than or equal to 1/50 kW/ms. The apparatus for performing the process has a microwave reactor (1) which is equipped with a device for aligning the lamp (6) with its symmetry axis parallel to the coating gas flow direction. A perforated plate (13) is provided in one or more of the bounding walls of the reaction chamber in the microwave reactor for supply and/or exhaust of the coating gas.
Appareil et procédé permettant d'appliquer rapidement et facilement un revêtement de grande qualité sur une surface extérieure d'une lampe. Ce revêtement est obtenu grâce à un procédé de dépôt par voie chimique en phase vapeur-hyperfréquence dans un composant réactif hyperfréquence. Lorsque la puissance hyperfréquence couplée dans le composant réactif hyperfréquence (1) est supérieure à une certaine valeur de seuil de puissance, un plasma démontrant une perméabilité d'hyperfréquence réduite est allumé, ce qui blinde les éléments métalliques sur la lampe. Le taux de changement de puissance hyperfréquence durant la mise en circuit et la mise hors circuit est avantageusement supérieur ou égal à 1/50 kW/mS. L'appareil permettant de suivre ce procédé possède un composant réactif hyperfréquence (1) qui comprend un dispositif d'alignement de la lampe (6), dont l'axe de symétrie est parallèle au sens d'écoulement gazeux de revêtement. Une plaque perforée (13) est fournie dans une ou plusieurs parois limites de la chambre de réaction dans le composant réactif, afin de permettre l'alimentation ou l'échappement du gaz de revêtement.
