An applicator (20) for a catamenial tampon (26) which is capable of inserting a tampon (26) into the vaginal tract and spreading the tampon open within the vaginal cavity is disclosed. In one embodiment, the applicator (20) comprises tube (22) having an interior (I) and a flexible material which has one end that is formed into a flexible and expandable loop (24). The flexible loop (24) is slidably mounted within the tube (22). The flexible loop (24) is contained inside the tube (22) until it is desired to deploy the tampon (26). When it is desired to deploy the tampon (26), the flexible loop (24) with the tampon (26) thereon is pushed out the expulsion end of the tube (22). The flexible loop (24) expands laterally and spreads the tampon (26) open within the vaginal cavity. Also disclosed is a catamenial tampon (26) in the form of a soft, comfortable, hollow bag. The tampon (26) is capable of being inserted digitally or through the use of the unique applicator described above. Unique combinations of the tampons and applicators described herein are also disclosed, as are methods of the use of such combinations.
L'invention concerne un applicateur (20) de tampons (26) absorbants qui permet d'introduire un tampon (26) dans le tractus vaginal et de déployer le tampon à l'intérieur du vagin. Dans un mode de réalisation, l'applicateur (20) comporte un tube (22) pourvu d'une partie intérieure (I) et d'une matière souple dont une extrémité présente la forme d'une boucle (24) souple et extensible. Cette boucle (24) extensible est montée coulissante à l'intérieur du tube (22) et elle est maintenue à l'intérieur du tube (22) jusqu'au déploiement du tampon (26). Lorsqu'on souhaite déployer celui-ci, la boucle (24) souple, sur laquelle est fixé le tampon (26), est expulsée du tube par l'extrémité d'expulsion du tube. La boucle souple s'étend latéralement et déploie le tampon (26) à l'intérieur du vagin. L'invention concerne également un tampon (26) absorbant qui se présente sous la forme d'un sachet creux, mou et à forme adaptable. On peut introduire ce tampon (26) à l'aide d'un doigt ou au moyen de l'applicateur selon l'invention. L'invention concerne également des combinaisons inédites du tampon et de l'applicateur décrits ci-dessus ainsi que des procédés d'utilisation de ces combinaisons.
